WHAT IS AN ALBERGUE? 

A Pilgrim Albergue is a unique type of accommodation found along the Camino de Santiago, specifically designed for pilgrims embarking on this spiritual journey.

These albergues, resembling hostels, predominantly feature dormitories, are exclusively for pilgrims walking the Camino. While dorm-style rooms are the norm, some Private Albergues along the Camino do provide an option for private rooms.

Unlike their public counterparts, Private Albergues are typically managed by individuals or families. This personal touch results in better facilities and a higher standard of service, contributing to a more intimate and comfortable experience for the pilgrims.
The owners often go the extra mile to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere and some will organise communal dinners too where you can share a meet other pilgrims siting in one table.
